To become a successful driver, you will need a number of things...

1.   An ambitious, patient and most importantly a fun instructor
2.   Persistence and the willingness to learn
3.   A good car to learn in - You get to drive a new Corsa Ecoflex, a great car and will ease you towards a confident and successful drive
4.   Confidence!  It is usual to be nervous on the road but confidence comes with practice and with me you will get plenty of both!

Getting started

1.  Sort out your provisional, before you do anything!  You will also have to meet the criteria below

  • You are an UK resident
  • You can apply 3 months before your 17th birthday
  • Have a valid UK passport or another form of identity
  • Can provide addresses of where you have lived over the last three years
  • Are currently prevented from driving for any reason
  • Can meet the minimum eyesight requirement (Read a car's number plate from 20.5 feet)
  • Make the required payment

Apply for your provisional licence online

2.  Find yourself a reliable and registered driving instructor

All fully qualified driving instructors would have passed the 3 required exams and will be registered on the Driving Standards Agency registrar.  By law the driving instructor has to display their green certificate or badge on the windscreen of the car while tutoring for remuneration.  To view my valid certificate, please click here Stephan's ADI Certificate * Note my full name is Ockert J S Olivier, AKA Stephan.

3.  Start preparing for your Theory Test

To book your practical test, you will need to pass your Theory test first and in many situations you could wait 6 weeks for your test!  The theory test is made up of two parts; a multiple choice section and a Hazard Perception test. The multiple choice bit is delivered using a touch screen computer and mouse, while the hazard perception test records your responses through the use of a computer mouse button.

You'll need to pass both parts to successfully complete your theory test. If you pass one part and fail the other, you'll fail the whole test, and will have to take both parts again.

You can book your Theory test through the DSA (Driving Standards Agency) website... Book your test, this Link will also direct you to booking your practical test.
